Meet Zaphod, The Mad Scientist's Cat

Karen (my wife) was at the Remembrance Day ceremonies on Nov 11/06, and there was a young stray cat that was running behind the wreaths and knocking them over as the veterans were placing them on the memorial.

Karen stepped forward and removed the cat, but then it started following her. When she sat down, it curled up next to her on the park bench.

To make a short story even shorter, we now have another cat.

He wasn't very old when we got him, I would guess under 6 months? Karen says he looks like a Maine Coon cat.

He seems happy all the time (especially now that he gets regular food), and is very affectionate and friendly. Nothing bothers him, he seems always relaxed and happy no matter what is going on around him.

We named him Zaphod, from the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy books. If you read the books, you know Zaphod was always cool and relaxed, and nothing really bothers him.

He has a very scientific mind for a cat: he is very curious, and his favorite toy is a laser pointer.

The vet said we were the first ones to ever bring their cat on a leash.

Zaphod and Piper like to play together.
They look fierce here, but they are really just playing.
